Zoom, one hour in office whitening is for YOU !

Zoom In Office Whitening

Well, what exactly is Zoom whitening? Zoom in office whitening is a procedure that takes about an hour where special whitening gel is applied to your teeth and a special Zoom light is shone onto the gel on your teeth to activate the whitening process. You make have heard of Zoom whitening on the television show, Extreme Makeover on the ABC Network.

It is advisable to have a dental cleaning of your teeth prior to having the Zoom whitening procedure.

What will the dental assistant do to conduct the Zoom whitening procedure? First she will take you back to our whitening room. She will apply a special gel to your gums to protect them from the whitening gel and whitening light. She will give you a pair of special glasses to protect your eyes from the whitening light. Next she will apply the high powered whitening gel to your teeth. After the gel is on the surfaces of the teeth, she will place the special whitening light to illuminate your teeth. The light actually aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide in the gel and helps it penetrate the surface of the teeth. A Zoom study shows that the light increases the efficacy of the gel by 26%.

You will then be able to comfortably watch television or enjoy music on one of our IPods. The dental assistant will remove and apply new gel up to three times during the hour treatment.

What is different about the Zoom one hour whitening at Dr. Morgan's office as compared with other dental offices? Other than our warm and comfortable environment you will also get a take home touch up kit with custom trays.

You can expect your whitening results to last a year or more. It all depends on your eating, drinking and smoking habits as well as you dental home care habits. The fortunate thing is if you realized that your teeth are not as white as they were when you completed your Zoom in office treatment, you can use the touch up kit that you get with your in office procedure.

What about teeth sensitivity. Teeth Sensitivity is always a side effect of any type of whitening procedure. The Zoom light generates minimal heat which is the usual source of discomfort. On rare occasions, minor tingling sensations are experienced immediately after the procedure, but always dissipate. Many times an over the counter ibuprofen eliminates the sensitivity very quickly.
